Does writing about cliche topics makes one a cliche?

Well, I know topics like resilience may be overused, but what if that is applicable to me and my distinct trate I wish to focus?

It is not the topic, it is what you do with the topic.

If your writing is personal, detailed, honest, and revealing, if it reveals something of your unique personality, voice and experiences, then it will not matter whether others have written on your topic. Your essay will help distinguish you from others and therefore help you in the admissions process.

There are many cliche treatments of topics, but it is quite possible to write about virtually anything in a personal, detailed, honest and revealing manner. In a noncliche manner.
