I am doing well in all my other classes (A and A+) but am averaging a B in AP Euro. How can I improve my grade in AP Euro. My teacher puts source based questions on the tests/quizzes and those types of questions are very hard for me as I do not understand the context. I am also unable to do well on the in class essays that my teacher gives. The essays that he administers are the same types that show up on the AP exam. Tips please!!!
I have not taken AP Euro but I have taken APUSH and history APs are relatively similar. Here are a few tips:
-ask your teacher for some practice questions that are source-based, and then ask him to go over them with you
-the types of essays that history APs have are, honestly, weird. It just takes a lot of practice- use old AP exams to get this practice
-ask your teacher if there are any extra-credit opportunities
I’m a sophomore right now taking AP Euro and I have devoted so much of my time to the class, however I have an A in the class. I like history so I always liked the subject but I also had trouble with the source based questions. My advice is to practice, as mentioned in the post above. Also, on my Euro tests, my teacher always gives us the author of the source and that helps me a lot because I can kind of predict what these people are going to say. For example, if the author is a Jesuit during the Protestant Reformation, I can infer that the source will try to criticize the Catholic Church. Ask your teacher for help and you should be fine! Good luck with the course!
@davidyekwonkim - AP Euro teacher here. Just FYI - Jesuits would have been unlikely to criticize the Catholic church during the Reformation - as they were part of the Popes “counter” reformation to fight protestantism. Other than that, you point is quite valid - and identifying POV (point of view) is an important component in the grading of the essays.
also there is a website called albert.io which has lots of source based practice questions. Fair warning, you have to get a subscription to get access to most of the questions (you can answer a limited # for free)
@toowonderful Thanks for catching my mistake! I should’ve known that being an AP Euro student…
