my CC name is just too cool for you other guys. Its innovative, creative, contemplative; It's freakin' amazing. Hell, sometimes I forget what it means

Es cierto, chica bonita. Tu quieres abrazarme?

E-Romance---Such a beautiful, digital thing

Romance my butt lol

sr6622: yes, very.

texasmathwhiz: of course...

hmmm i like you spidey! your way of thinking that is.

I think you can temporarily enjoy something for four years, and you can call it passion depending on your defintion for that.

In the interest of a compromise, maybe spydertennis found something he slightly liked in all this research, and though he hadn't found his love, made it through impressively.

THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN COLLEGE.

overachieving will only achieve the basest, most superficial goals. i hope all your super-name-brand colleges make you feel good about yourself, because frankly, NO one else will care at the end of the day. whereas, actually having a passion for something (god forbid I don't live for the application! ooh awh you scawed of the big bad admissions committees?) is what will REALLY open doors in the future. BTW, read some Shakespeare. Don't you remember where the over-ambitious, never-satisfied Macbeth ended up?

don't listen to the Machines -- go for passion. life can be a beautiful, enjoyable (gasp) thing when you actually live for yourself.

greenmoon, you are in the wrong board

in fact my super name brand colleges do make me feel good about myself
and you misunderstand, overgeneralizing makes anyone sound wrong

...is he...is he really......

Greenmoon, I could eat that comment up right now with my opposing view, but I'll leave it to Spiderman. I know his real name, I just wanted to say that.

Anyway, I will say that I hate Shakespeare with a passion. I loathe him, I despise him. I feel a strong anathema towards him. I abominate him. He is my odium.

Okay enough synonyms and forms of hate.

how so? spyder's post is describing the glory of going through the HS years with blind ambition for the sole purpose of the wrong kind of success, and i begged to differ.

opinions. i know others share this opinion, but still, this IS a message board, and i hope i am as entitled as the next person to display mine.

and texas: why the loathing of shakespeare? i'd like to believe that you have thought about such a radical statement, and aren't just another ignorant contrarian armed with a thesaurus...

i'm just going to say this right now.

when you revolve your life around college admissions and academics, you're not going to get as much satisfaction as you think you would.

the harvard/yale old-money isn't all it's cooked up to be.

don't do a club just so you can put it on your app. you may be doing something that doesn't seem very college-app worthy, but it just might be. if you like sports, but aren't very good to play professionally, then maybe you can start your own sports club and become president.

be passionate about everything you do.

i take great offense to ur post...i volunteered 2000 hours to my local EMS because i had a true passion for it, not because of college, in fact i wont go to a college without an EMS

greenmoon, i was saying that your view is in the far minority in this board

All I can add is this: You're only in high school for four years, yet I cannot think of another four years that could be more important for you. Take advantage of this relatively short period in your life. Don't spend more time than you need searching for your "passions," that is something you can do in the next 50 years. Your education should be your top priority, and how effectively you use your time now will impact how enjoyable the rest of your life is.

Yes, you can live a great life even if you don't go to an Ivy. However, if you can live a good life graduating from a community college, think about how much BETTER your life could've been if you went to Harvard.

hhhmmmmm, i guess i have no passion at all
You know what this means! It's time to do stuff only for college. Woot!

Greenmoon, I just finished 10th grade English for the summer pretty recently. I had to read and analyze Shakespeare to death.

I just feel that he isn't as special as he is thought to be.

He was one of the only writers of his time so of course he is the most famous, but let me ask you, is it necessary to spend three weeks trying to find the meaning of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The play is about an agglomeration of fairies and horny nobles.

Oh and then there's the play within the play, that must have some deep meaning that we need to spend a week on.

I just think some plays are meant just for amusement, who cares about the deep meanings.

i heard somewhere that out of all writers in history, shakespear had the largest vocabulary. anyone else remember hearing this in high school? thats fairly impressive.
