my friend and i are thinking about dorming together if we decide to go to scu, but we dont know which RLC's to choose. Which dorms do you guys recommend? (hanging out, partying, but at the same time studying?) Please, need some input!

No one can advise you on an RLC w/o really knowing you. It's too personal. I am willing to advise you NOT to room with a friend. I's cool to choose the the same RLC if you want to but you complicate your llife as a frosh by having a friend be your roommate. There are a couple threads on this subject on the college life board I suggest you do a search. The only advatage is that you know them ahead of time but that can become a bigger disadvantage over time.

I agree with historymom-- I have two friends that were accepted to USC and decided to NOT dorm with each other. They're still really good friends and attribute this to not dorming together. They made this decision because they found that people who dorm together as friends from high school end up ruining their friendship. Your freshman year is a great time to meet new people, and in many cases, bonding with your roommate.

Here's an article on this topic: Does your best friend make a best roommate?

As historymom said, there's a lot of information in CC on this topic. As for RLC's, RLCs really depend on your personality and personal choices. I suggest you look into the RLCs and find which is the best fit for you: RLC's. The names of each RLC further explain what each one is. However, I believe the larger dorms (Alpha, Communitas) are louder and have "a lot of fun," but DO research on the RLCs and decide which you fits you.

I see, i will definitely take that into consideration. Which RLC's are closer to the gym? I workout a lot!

Campisi, San Filipo, Graham, Sobato, Casa Italiena

I agree with Thumper.
I rarely post here at all anymore but once in a great while I check in to see who some of the new students are who got in to this really great school. My son is a sophomore who lives in Graham. Its a laid back place, plenty of smart students with a quieter disposition. DS said this side of campus is different from the side west of Benson. The 'personality' is more easy going, not less studious though, they learned how fast the quarter system fly's. The other side is louder, possibly because of the high rise(Swig) with more students in it. The rest just depends on your interests and personality. Graham has not been refurbished as Campisi just was so the drawers and closets are older but in good condition. Don't know if they will refurbish it. This side of campus is closer to everything, library, gym, health center and he likes that. Safeway is also closer. The RLC system has been a good thing, he has good friends from South America, Denver Co, and Missouri. They all started out in Graham as freshmen and plan to room together next year.
