Double major at Cornell University?

So I'm planning on pursuing graduate work in physics after undergrad.
I want to do physics and engineering at this point right now though.
Would it be better to double major in engineering physics and mechanical engineering or to double major in mechanical engineering and physics?
Engineering Physics could prepare me just as well for graduate work in theoretical physics.
In addition I would want to graduate in 4 years.

MechE + Physics would require the dual program, where you’d have to satisfy requirements for both A&S and Eng. AEP + MechE is just a normal double major within engineering- you should talk to your advisor more about the feasibility of your plan

which option would be better?

would engineering physics be a good secondary major with mechanical engineering though?
if i plan on doing graduate work in mechanical engineering.

You should really talk to your advisor-- I don’t know.

Mechanical engineering + physics would be dual major and thus make it tough to graduate in 4 years; it’s normally a 5 year program since you need to satisfy requirements for both colleges. MechE + eng. physics would be easier to do logistically speaking. I see no reason not to just do the second one.
