<p>I’ve been two years out, but I know students have definitely double majored in the past. It’s quite difficult, though–to complete your other major you might have to stay on an extra year or take summer courses.</p>
<p>Is it a strong school academically?
I mean the theatre is great I know that but what bout the other important things?</p>
<p>I was very impressed with the literature and anthropology classes I took there. I know it’s a highly ranked research University with strong programs in Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy and Medicine. The School of Business is also very well regarded. I didn’t double major, though, so my knowledge of the other academic strengths is limited.</p>
<p>In addition to the practical theater training, the theater studies department at UMN is also very strong, with leading scholar of theater historiography Michal Kobialka on the faculty. </p>
<p>I think if you’re looking for strong, conservatory-style acting training in an environment where academic expansion is possible (and encouraged), then it’s definitely a program you should look into. However, you shouldn’t discount the fact that your obligations to your BFA training will necessarily take front and center above everything else.</p>
<p>When I was there, I spoke to a couple of the kids who were doing double majors or who were minoring…they said it wasn’t that difficult, especially if you had AP credits going into it already. It just takes a little bit more work and depends on what your second major will be, but it definitely is do-able. I’m planning to minor in music or double with art history myself!</p>
<p>Very nice! I really dont just want a theatre degree. I want a double in acting and political science. I want a city and I want a school with very good academics. I will have a lot of AP’s. I’m taking 8 in high school and taking 6 AP exams.
I’m also taking 2 classes at Towson U from now until I graduate
each 3 credits.
So that 6 credits plus the possibilities with AP’s</p>
<p>Mrtv look at SMU, you can double, it’s difficult but doable. Dallas is a great city, strong academics.</p>
