Double major bio & chem

So my ideal major would be biochemistry but some schools that I am applying to do not have a biochem major so I was wondering which would be a good "back up" major ?
Biology or chemistry
Or I was also thinking double major in bio nd chemistry
Any advice ? Or recommendations ?

It probably depends on which you are more interested in. Are you more interested in biological systems or in the chemistry that allows them to function? Try to look at the requirements for each major at the schools you are looking at (or at whatever school you decide to attend) and see which requirements interest you more.

At my school, they had a biochemistry major in the biology department and one in the chemistry department. Both majors took much of the same classes but just in their respective departments. But the biochem/biology majors had to take electives in the biology department, and the biochem/chem majors had to take electives in the chemistry department and were required to take more labs. So it just depends on which side of it interests you more, and you can try to figure that out by reading the requirements for both majors. I liked biology more than I liked chemistry, so I decided to major in biochemistry in the biology department. I had a friend who liked chemistry more, so he did biochem in the chem department. It just depends on what you like or what you want to do as a career.

You could also double major in both, if you can fit it in.
