Double Major in Accounting & Finance + Masters?

I just finished my first semester of college. I came in with over 30 credits and I anticipate on completing over 60 credits by the end of next semester. I am majoring in accounting and I was thinking of double majoring in finance because it’s a good combination with accounting – but I’m open to other business-related majors if anyone has any suggestions.

On top of that, I was also thinking of applying to the accelerated masters program my school has (MBA, MSIS, and MTax - 5 year programs). I wanted to finish early (in 4 1/2 years - and it’s possible if not double majoring) and start working early. It’s kind of doable with the double major if I decide to take 18 credits for a semester or two and take some (graduate) courses over winter/summer semester breaks.

Any advice would be a great help!

What is an MSIS degree ? Masters of Science in Information Science ?

As an accounting major, it is best to get a Masters in Taxation in order to help prepare you for the CPA exams.

One gains so much more from an MBA after working for at least 4 years. An MBA is at least as much of a life experience and learning from your cohort as it is from profs, that pays dividends many years into the future.

An MBA is also great for a pivot into a 2nd career. I’d hold onto the MBA option for a few years of work. The better MBA programs almost require 4+ years of work-experience.
