Double major in CS & Math or major in CS & minor in Math?

I’m currently majoring in computer science, but I love math. I don’t know if I should major in math or minor in it  Any ideas?

Plot out your schedule as a CS major. In your free elective space, add the math courses you are interested in. See if they make up a major or minor.

I’m graduating this semester with a double major in CS and Math. If you love both and the courses fit, do both! It doesn’t really matter whether you major or minor in math unless you have a specific career area in mind. For me, I loved both equally, and I’ll be using both pretty heavily in my job since my main area of interest is cryptography. I am came in ahead in both subjects, so fitting the courses in was not an issue.

If you can graduate on time the math can help you in further graduate studies for CS.

Yea if you are very serious about math and can finish both degrees on time then do it. It’s good for cs majors to have a strong foundation in math. Also, note that in many upper level math courses that you will need for your degree you won’t actually be doing mathematical calculations they are 100 percent theory (ex. Real analysis), and they are not easy so I wouldn’t do the dual major unless I was really serious about the subject. But if you are really serious about it then it is a great idea and I wish you the best of luck.
