I’m really interested in the science and arts field. I was wondering if I could take a pre-med track with a double major in aeronautical engineering and biomedical engineering with a minor in an Indian language or music. Is this possible/recommended? Where are some universities that offer this options (or offer the three majors?- biomedical engineering, aeronautical engineering, and pre-med?)
Biomedical engineering probably includes most or all of the premed courses. But doing a double with aerospace engineering likely requires too many non overlapping credits or courses.
It is too much stretching with 2 major, especially with the 2 you mentioned. Focus on one.
In general many schools will have South Asian studies and they may offer some Indian languages.
As you know there are so many Indian languages and at times communities work hard to establish a chair for a particular language in a school. UCB, Yale, Chicago and Harvard (coming up) have some Indian language. You can do that as a minor.
Where are some places where you can get a BS/MS in accounting, BS/MS in Music Education (or any type of music) , and BS/MS in Biomedical Engineering? What is the admission process like? I understand that the schedule will be hectic, just wanted to know some places that offer this.Does a minor give you a degree?
In order to earn degree, you have to officially declare a major with your college and complete all require major requirements (usually 8-12 courses in the major) and any co-requirements needed to support the major.
Are you looking for all these degree programs at the same college?
@iwannabe_Brown
The OP isa rising high school freshman (aka still in 8th grade) and has no concept how college works. They seem to believe you can take classes ala carte at different schools just like you can do for some high schools.
Yeah. I agree with that. Which is why I was asking here so that I could be prepared for it later. If I know what I would do, then I can take electives regarding that subject. But sorry for wasting your time if you think so. @WayOutWestMom
You may want to look for a college that offers classes in the various areas you are interested so that you can explore different courses freshman year before you finalize on a major. Honestly it is too early for that because in the next four years your will most probably change your mind in regards to your career path. Focus on taking a variety of electives in high school that expose you to music, business, science, engineering. Look for summer programs that allow you to explore different career paths. Also keep in mind what you major in may not necessarily be the career path you pursue after you graduate college. Lots of people have degrees in one area and then learn different skills on the job. This leads to different interests and possibly following a different career path.
Example 1, biology degree with premed classes for a bachelor’s degree.
Work a year in a healthcare setting.
Attend law school and become a healthcare attorney.
(very different path than going to med school)
Example 2, Biomedical engineering degree,
Work in a tech company for a few years.
Obtain an MBA in Marketing.
Work in Data Analytics in a Pharmaceutical company.
People change careers in their lifetime. Sometimes people find out later in life that they want to study something else and follow a different career path. Main thing is that what you decide now may not be what you want in the future. In the next four years of high school you will be exposed to so many different things that you never knew about that you find interesting. Keep an open mind and explore different areas and talk to people in different types of jobs.
