I'm going to attend UCSD in the fall and right now i'm sort of split between majors. I have an interest in math/english and i was wondering how feasible would it be to double major in applied mathematics and literature at the same time. can this be done? thanks.

Seems to be fine, though it's an odd combination (usually people are either humanities-oriented or math/science-oriented).

arthurmiller, I got into a huge discussion with some colleagues about this-- double majors in math/english. People say it's the oddest of all combinations, but I disagree. Math measures the overall intelligence of the person, and having a strong humanities background ensures that this intelligent person is also capable of communicating his intelligence. You should make a new thread about this titled specifically "Math/English double major-- how common is it?" to get more feedback-- i'd be interested too.

I know of someone who triple majored in math, economics and english, although he is among the smartest people i know
