Wow! Your excerpt from an article by a College of William and Mary professor is excellent. I will pass it on to our son and other theatre moms. Our son is experiencing concerns over the economy and with only a year and a half until graduation is doubting his ability to "get the acting jobs" needed to survive. Hopefully, this will calm his fears about his abilities and be open to whatever the future holds...

Thank you for pointing out the document. Saw Les Mis in London. Quality of the theatre was beyond anything I've ever experienced. It was obvious something was different.

NotMamaRose-Once again your willingness to share your wisdom is so very appreciated by me, and most likely others in this forum.
I am a mom of a theater major. Her world is nothing I know about personally, and I constantly find myself at a ninety degree learning angle. I have long felt her willingness to work hard, and enjoy the process will bring her to a place of success-as true success is really about the journey and enjoying the moments. Like a cat, she will land on her feet-whatever venue that takes.
For those parents who child has the interest, and the ability to attend one of those $$ universities-ie Yale, Northwestern, I have felt the money is well spent. Did we take on loans that will require several years to pay off-yep. Do I have any regrets-no. My DD is in the right school. It is an investment in her-and I think she is worth every dime.
My two cents-APOL-a mom
