Hello! UCSB is most certainly my dream school, with many factors contributing to this.
However, one thing is holding me back: I want a degree in kinesiology, exercise science or sports management (anything related to sports), but the school doesn't offer either.

However, the schools has a program called exercise and sport studies which offers 1/2 unit classes. Here is the link:

UC Santa Barbara General Catalog - Exercise and Sports Studies

Would there be a way to major in something else and incorporate the exercise and sport studies classes into my major? I am extremely confused and I don't want to have to take this amazing school off of my list!

Any opinions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Those classes would not prepare you for a career in sports management or athletic training.

The “dream school” idea is a myth anyways. Look elsewhere.

Seems like the upper division courses in that department would be of interest to you (the lower division courses are mainly PE activities courses).

You can major in anything and do the pre-med courses and the upper division exercise and sports studies courses as electives. However, medical schools supposedly may think of kinesiology as a less rigorous pre-professional major, which they supposedly do not like.

UC Davis (exercise biology) and UC Berkeley (integrative biology, choosing academic PE courses) do appear to have majors that may be of interest to you, but including more rigorous chemistry/biology/etc. preparation than most kinesiology major programs.

Whoops, I didn’t see the upper-division courses - for some reason, when I loaded that courses page, only the lower-division courses showed up, and those wouldn’t be enough.

However, according to UCSB, the program is not accredited by the National Athletic Trainers Association, and therefore cannot lead to certification as a board-certified athletic trainer (if that’s the path you were looking for).

The list of all certified, accredited athletic training programs can be found here: [CAATE Accredited Programs Directory](http://www.caate.net/imis15/CAATE/Accredited_Programs/Core/directory.aspx?hkey=b91f27b1-2a93-4ed1-b1e6-55cc82ac0fc3)
