No politics but I loved the dress Eva Longoria wore tonight. Anyone else? @BunsenBurner you’re our fashion expert, Designer?
I did not see that @mom60 but I have seen a bunch of people on my FB feed trying to find out where Michelle Obama got her VOTE necklace
Which color would you choose in this dress?
I love the vibrancy of the blue but the other seems more transitional fall-ish. I have a fair complexion with dark hair with arctic blondes if that helps. I think I can go with either color. I have three or four in this style already, so I am not sure I want to buy both. The others I have are more summery in their colors.
This was just posted on Who What Wear which is primarily a fashion website. It provides a link for the necklace as well as other VOTE clothes and accessories.
@Hoggirl, cute dress. Like both colors but like you the Madeira color looks more fallish
@Hoggirl - Cute dress. If you get it, let us know how you like the button at hem (for biking, wind etc)
@Hoggirl, I vote for the blues. But those are my favorite colors, no matter what time of year.
Not a fan and don’t use those. They are a recent addition. I have little shorts I wear underneath if I a concerned about the breeze or being active (rare! - ha!) Useful, but not attractive.
@Hoggirl , I like the blue better as a color…but for fall would get the darker.
This is where I am as well! Conflicted!
They sort of look like 2 different dresses because of the color. Can you get both? Wear one in summer, one in fall?
If not, on second thought, I’d get the blue. You’ll always love it and wish you had got that color.
I think I’m in the minority but I’d get the Madeira. The blue is pretty but it’s something I’d wear on a tropical vacation. I’d get more use out of the other color.
I like both colors although I’m partial to blue. Maybe it’s just me, but I would never wear a dress if I were hiking like the woman was doing in the picture!
@mom60 - well, I live in Florida! But, I kind of feel like I have plenty of things in tropical colors already.
I may cave and get both - lol.
@showmom858 at least if you were hiking in a dress, you might be able to pee “al fresco” with a little more ease and dignity!
(something that occurs to me since I did have to go behind a very pathetic and scrubby little bush last time I went on a serious day hike, at least an hour’s hike until the next decently sized tree)
well, the title “dressing young” seems particularly a propos today since I am wearing a linen sundress that was being given away last summer by someone a decade younger than me because she thought it was too young for her and would never fit her again. It’s a great color for me, but it just has little spaghetti straps that I just don’t wear these days. In my younger days, I would have just gone bra-less. I’ve been wearing it lately as a casual dress over a tee-shirt but today is SO HOT I am just wearing it over a bra and letting the straps show…not a look I love but whatever. Very nice and cool.
In my younger days, I loved sundresses and especially halter dresses. Now I find that halter dresses look pretty good overall except for the bra issue. I had one dress for a while with a built in bra that was OK but basically I just can’t deal with no bra in my “mature” years; it’s not even comfortable, let alone attractive! and I’m not buying special bras either. Halter bras are not comfortable, in my opinion, and I don’t really like racer back bras either, for sleeveless dresses. In fact, I am just picky about all kinds of nonsense!
I am thinking about sewing some kind of trim on the straps of this dress because I like it a lot except for the straps.
@Hoggirl I like both the colors. Probably either one would be good for Florida. If I lived in Florida, I might wear something like that because I like a dress better than shorts. The button seems like a good idea to me because in hot weather, the last thing I want to do is wear shorts under anything. Having the button in case a gusty wind comes up seems smart.
@orangepurple - your post made me think of a funny story. My best friend from high school used to always say, “One must suffer for beauty.” I often said that expression as well, and MANY years later shared that sentiment with another friend who, without missing a beat, retorted, “Beauty is too much suffering!”
@Hoggirl I’d get the both if you can’t decide. Personally, madeira is the color I like best.
@Hoggirl, I like the blue and, since you’re in FL, I imagine you can wear it into the fall if not throughout the year.
