Dressing Young (Part 2)

I don’t think this warrants a separate thread so asking here.
I bought a sweater in December for myself. I love the sweater and I love the color even more. I wore the sweater out and I ended up having to do some work in an overgrown garden bed that had prickly burrs. They stuck to the arms and the sides of the sweater. I got them all off but now the sweater has pulled badly. Has anyone had experience with a sweater shaver? The sweater is wool.
Thanks

This little device was surprisingly effective at reviving my pilling sweaters.

The only downside is that the catcher container needs to be emptied often.

Give it a try!

I’ve used a similar device and it worked. Be careful to only cut the pills and not the sweater too.

I’ve used that little cheapie shaver and it works great! Got all the pills off an old sofa as well as a coat. I used it so much that it died after a few weeks, but will def get another!

I got this one because it has multiple settings and a large catch container. Works great on my delicate sweaters. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B095K5R5ZR?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I ended up buying the Conair. It worked but you do have to empty it several times. My daughter is now borrowing it.
Todays topic- I’m feeling the need to buy a few items to refresh my closet. Has anyone ordered from Quince? I love my Jenni Kayne sweater but their prices are crazy.

I have one of their $50 V-neck cashmere sweaters. I was looking for something that had some warmth but looked springy. Not quite as soft as my more expensive cashmeres but still very nice. I’ve only worn it once so can’t give you a long-term review. Quince does seem to get great reviews.

I know some have ordered from Sundance Catalog.

Their shipping prices are pretty high. Anyone know any way of getting around the shipping price?

Thinking of ordering something. They want $20 to ship!

Dr. google says if you sign up for their emails you get a code for free shipping, but I don’t know if it’s true.

Can anyone point me to their best source for flattering, fitted (but not skin tight) tops? Looking for both short-sleeve and long. Scoop neck or square neck are both good (I don’t love v-neck). Everything I’m seeing in the stores is so…flouncy.

Once upon a time, Nordstrom carried this brand. I still have some of their tees! Vey well made and have quite a few not-flouncy styles.

Nordstrom no longer sells them, but you can find them on Amazon, so easy returns.

Perfect - thank you!

3 dots are nice tees. Michael Stars makes a similar quality tee. Splendid.

I buy my tees at Talbots. They wash well and aren’t see through.

Lately I’ve been buying tops on Poshmark. I search for a brand or a store that I like. Been finding some good priced stuff

I just posted on the MOB thread that I’ve recently become an Anthropologie fan! I just bought these last week. I’m sure I’ll get teased mercilessly by my husband that I belong on the Jetson’s. I plan on westing them with a pair of black/white snakeprint heels and a bright hot pink cropped sweater. I think they’ll go with so many different outfits and jackets, shoes, booties! They are high waisted and soft. I don’t even like myself in cropped pants often, but these were longer on.

I wouldn’t wear them but I think they are absolutely adorable. I’m a pretty bland dresser.
I love Anthropologie, it’s a store that I can go with my daughters and we all can find things we like. I went with my D recently and bought a similar shaped pant. I wouldn’t have tried them on but my daughter had them in the dressing room. I love Antro but dislike the prices and they return policy.
I tried on a dress I’ve been eyeing for a long time. Didn’t love the color in the store but it comes in other colors and prints. I saw a similar dress on Quince and ordered it from Quince. It is my first purchase and I’m happy with the dress.

What dress did you buy from Quince? I saw that they offered a very similar dress to the Somerset from Anthropologie. I bought the short version from Poshmark that I wore to a recent bridal shower.

@conmama those are very cute pants! I love the cut and have looked at them in different fabrics. I ordered a similar pair but the rise was 12.5”. They were way too high of a rise for this short lady.

I have way too many cute clothes and not enough places to wear them.

I found this top NWT in a different print for 1/3 of the price at Anthro

Here’s the Anthro skirt I spoke of in the other thread. The mini part actually comes mid-thigh on me, and the lace part is much more beautiful and a bit more opaque than in this flowy. Very flies. I’m going to wear a white satin cami with embellishment straps and silver ankle strap sandals.

Very cute for Paris. I think you should schedule a photographer and get some pictures! Perfect!

It will be my “Emily” outfit. Old Emily, yes, but still…

I ordered the maxi that is similar to the Somerset from Anthropologie. I got it in black and it’s extremely flattering. It could be long on you. I’m 5 ft 5 and it hits perfect with a flat sandal.
The pants I bought from Anthropologie that I’m debating keeping have a much higher rise than I usually wear.
