I was wondering if someone with experience with or knowledge of both schools could compare them in terms of academic rigor, personalities and interests of the student body and reputation. I've already been accepted into New Paltz but I've been getting a lot of mail recently from Drew and after doing some research it's begun to look appealing. The thing is, I don't want to waste their time with an application if I'm likely to ultimately select New paltz over Drew. (Should I be admitted to both)

I'm not asking which is better because I'm sure they are both great in their own ways, but I'd like to get a better understanding of the different attributes of each school.

Also I’m planning to double major in theatre and probably English (possibly history)

Check it out. No other way to know than doing so. I happen to like New Paltz a lot, don’t know much about Drew. Is there a cost issue? if you are instate NY, SUNY is a good deal.

I’m currently a sophomore at Drew. I don’t know much at all about SUNY New Paltz, but I can speak on behalf of Drew. We have one of the highest ranked Theater programs in the country according to Princeton Review and The Huffington Post. While I’m not into theater I have many friends that love the program. The professors are extremely helpful, tutoring is available and the classes are designed to help you learn and push you to your limits. The student body is very friendly and welcoming with a strong sense of community and culture. If you apply to Drew you’ll find that it isn’t as expensive as the sticker price - I got a nice sum of merit based scholarships and any financial assistance I needed to attend. Come to campus and take a tour, reach other to other students and come to the Full Impact Days to get a better idea of Drew. I hope this helps, good luck on your college endeavors.
