So I applied to the Drexel accelerated BA/BS/MD program in early November. I recently found out that I was apparently eligible for the program and they forwarded my application to the college of medicine so i paid that application/processing fee. I was just wondering when I'd receive my admission decision from Drexel itself as to whether I got in as an undergrad? They say four to six weeks but its been like 2 months sooo....anyone in the program or also applying have any information? Should I assume that if they forwarded my app to the med school I'm already in as an undergrad?

I think you find out about Drexel Undergrad late March…

By the way, has anyone else not heard back from Drexel yet? I haven’t.

i got an email that my app had been forwarded to the med school but i haven’t had to pay the $150 fee to the med school yet.

When’d you get the mail? I haven’t received anything yet

^ I finally got it today :)

the website says 4-6 weeks from the time of applying…I was told my application was sent to the med school and given the website info where i pay the $150 fee and i did…I know i find out about the accelerated program in march but what about undergrad? The decision is supposed to be on the website but theres no update O_o I guess if you got yours today then i should get mine any day now i guess…

No - I meant I got the drexel email today, not the admissions decision.

I found out about undergrad last Thursday (1/24 - letter came today in the mail) and i paid my application fee a couple weeks ago. we should find out about interviews soon and final decisions in march

I found out about the undergrad last Thursday too.

Received my interview notification today. invited to interview on Feb 16!

Guitarkid49: Good news… May I know your SAT,GPA and other details ? what will be the interview questions ?

do you guys know when drexel/villanova/lehigh will make a final decision? I already went to the interview for all three schools on feb. 2

Each program makes decisions at different times. Mostly during second and third week of March.

Villanova/drexel decisions are coming out this week!

Hi all! Congrats to everyone who got in!

I just have a few quick questions regarding the accelerated med program at Drexel Med School:
- Can I apply to several programs (such as Lehigh, Villanova, Drexel) or do I just pick one to do my undergrad at?
- Is it possible to get rejected from one program, like Villanova, but be accepted to another, like Lehigh?
- What is the biggest factor that’s going to contribute to my acceptance or rejection? Is it test scores, leadership positions in school clubs (which I dont have…), medical experience, essays, recommendations, etc…?

Thanks in advance!

1.yes
2.yes
3. they’re pretty holistic. They definitely want some medical experience whether it be shadowing or volunteering or being an EMT, but they also want good test scores and EC’s. I know people who were Captains of their EMT Squads or tennis program or volleyball program or even debate programs.

It’s sorta like admissions to an ivy. Just be a great student. if your going to be a senior, there really isn’t much to do now to change your experiences. I suppose the only thing you have power over now is your essays so just convey a strong reason as to why you want to be a doc.

The way it works is that each undergrad you apply to will decide whether or not to forward your app to the med school. In some cases, some will while others don’t. Once you’re accepted by the med school, you’ll be accepted automatically in to the undergrads that decided to forward your app. For example, it is harder to get in to Villanova/Drexel vs. Drexel/Drexel because Villanova is more selective with the apps it forwards. Applying to more undergrads doesn’t increase your chances, so apply only where you’d be interested in attending if you were accepted. For admissions, SAT and GPA just have to meet a certain threshold which is not that high. Leadership really doesn’t matter much for programs like Drexel. The absolute key is those medical ECs (Shadowing, Research, Hosptil Volunteering, etc.). You don’t need to be an all-star in those, just need to have done them. And for this program you definitely don’t need to be ivy-level applicant. You stick with those ECs and have decent SAT/GPA (2200+/3.8+) and you’ll be golden for an interview. In the interview, talk about your experiences thoroughly and how it relates and you should be fine. Good luck with the process.

I just want to thank you for your kind and very informative reply. You definitely boosted my confidence about my likelihood for acceptance into the program. I was quite worried about my lack of real leadership experience, but I don’t think it will matter as much as medical extra curriculars, like you mentioned. Thanks again!!!
