Can someone please explain the rigor of coursework for a pre-med student at drexel? I plan on enrolling at Drexel for Fall 2012 as a transfer student going into sophomore year majoring in something in the business field while taking pre-med prerequisites. Is drexel the type of school that will weed out students so they can advertise a high acceptance rate to medical school? I heard sometimes the pre-med committee refuses to write LOR's for drexel students whom they believe have no chance, which seemed really awful! Can someone please describe their experience at Drexel.

Work hard and you’ll do well. If the committee doesn’t write you a letter it’s for good reason. You don’t want to apply before you’re ready, and you have a superrr low chance if you have a sub-3.0 GPA or any other glaring red flag on your application (wait a year or two, fix it, and then apply! It’s a lot of money to waste if you’re trying to apply to MD schools without at least a 3.4 or 3.5 minimum…do a post-bac!). I got a committee letter without any problems and have been accepted to several medical schools. I did well in all of my pre-med requirements, though I did study a lot in freshman/soph years.
