check this site for some more info on the program
http://www.drexel.edu/coas/pdf/bsmd_welcome.pdf
keep in mind that the pdf is a couple of years old, so the gpa requirements have changed since then.

I'm really enjoying the program so far. One of the nice things is that drexel gives alot of AP credits to the BS/MDers. I received credits for all of my tests but env sci. As a result it makes the course load over the 3 undergrad years much lighter. After my spring term freshman year, i'll only have to take 14-13 credit terms to complete all the required classes and half of the required spots my third year are open electives. Also, the location (in philadelphia) of drexel is really nice and there are a lot of things to do in the city. Also, every one else is the program is really academically focused, but because we all have assured seats at the College of Medicine, its a very collaborative atmosphere, compared to the more competitive atmospheres for undergrads in regular premed programs.

In terms of minuses, I can't think of any specific to drexel right now. For programs in general though, come spring time, students who have been accepted in to one or more programs are going to face a tough choice between the bs/md programs and a couple of really good universities. You're going to have to weigh an excellent undergrad experience vs that of a lesser known school/ not as good undergrad school. For me I ultimately chose drexel because of the assured seat, its location and because they also gave the best scholarship out of all my schools and i'm pretty happy with my decision.

Vespertilio , my S too is interested in BS/MD program. Does the applicant need to have research activities to be invited for medical interview ? usually how many applicants will be invited for interview , finally how many will be selected ? pls let me know how the interview will be with medical college

I didn't any research activities, but it still is necessary to have other medically related ecs on your resume. I think around 100 people were interviewed last year and then about half of them were accepted.

The interview was similar to most regular med school interviews. There was an intro session with the dean of admissions, then a tour of the college. There was only one interview with a member of their faculty and he asked a lot of the typical questions about my interests in medicine. Afterwards the school gave us lunch.
Also, if possible, ask the teachers who gave you recommendations what activities they mentioned. My interviewer surprised me with a question about one of the activities that i hadn't mentioned on my app but that my teacher had written about. It also turned out that he was a pretty big history buff, so we had a good conversation about several topics. It really depends on who interviews you as each interviewer usually has a pretty different style. If you search for med school interviews on google or look on the studentdoctor website you can find a lot of good information on interview tips.

that's lot of useful info, thank you

i just received an email about my interview today. is the dress attire semi-formal or formal for guys?

you got your interview already!?

i didnt get anything back yet...that probably means i didnt get in!

:(

yeah my interview is the 31st. i sent my app in over a month ago. i also applied to the program via villanova and drexel.

it seems like it's going to be more than just an interview because "my day" begins at 9 and ends at 1:30. should be interesting.

hey
i just got an email from Drexel Med to pay for the app...I suppose that means my interview will be soon. (i hope)

yeah i got my interview email a few days after the payment email. you'll probably be interviewed on the 31st too. i'm pretty sure a lot of kids are.

Interviews are not handed out to everybody, correct? Receiving one is pretty prestigious from what I've heard.

anyone else going for an interview this Sunday??

I got an interview as well, I'm going on 2/14.

when did you guys find out? was it recently?
