So, I'm planning on applying as a biomedical engineering major; however, I heard that the education isn't all that great. Vague I know, but compared to a school like, University of California: San Diego, the latter would be a better place to go to. But I've been hearing mixed messages. So the question is, compared to the UC schools, how does Drexel measure up when it comes to the quality of education and social life?

Ask yourself this question in the middle of January when its snowing in Philadelphia and 70 degrees and sunny at UCSD. You’ll have your answer :)

one of my friends came to drexel over a few UC schools to study bio. I also have a friend from the SD area that got into UCSD but came to Drexel to study business.

biomedical engineering is a good program and in it’s own college, although i don’t know enough to compare it to UCSD. i recommend that you go ahead and apply (as you are planning to). if you get in and get a decent financial aid package then I would visit drexel and go from there. remember drexel’s co-op program really is the big distinguishing factor, and you’ll even be able to do a six month biomedical engineering co-op out in california if you do an independent job search.

san diego is a beautiful place and I spent a summer there, but people might find it boring if you’ve been living their your whole life and want to get out to a different portion of the United States. As far as the social life goes, I think UCSD and Drexel are roughly equivalent. both aren’t big “party” schools, but you can still find ways to have fun through the number of city attractions, student activities, frats/sororities, neighboring colleges, or bar/club scene once your 21.

hope this helps and good luck.
