Don't take things so personally. Out of curiosity, I looked at the OP's other posts in case she'd posted other info about her D's background.</p>
<p>Looking further, I see that the D wants to major in engineering who also swims and does community service.</p>
<p>Females wishing to major in the hard sciences are highly sought after as are Alaskans.</p>
<p>She sounds like a dream applicant for many top colleges. They won't care if she drops band.</p>
<p>I didn't mean to get so defensive, but I saw your post and thought it came out of left field.</p>
<p>I'm dropping band for my senior year as well but am going to continue with the after school jazz band. I don't have to worry about the enormous time commitment during the college application process but I'm still able to continue my music education in some form. =] I'm enormously pleased with my decision and my parents are supportive as well. I hope all goes well with your daughter's decision.</p>
