The party scene is very prominent. Drinking to the point of oblivion completely dominates the social scene. If you don’t like that kind of partying, you may not like Princeton. According to Princeton’s own statistics, 73% of students binge drink regularly. The large majority of students are drinking to the point of being falling down drunk as their main social activity. Of course you can find friends who don’t drink and party, but you may feel left out of the dominant culture. The number of students who participate in heavy drinking is far above the national average, and exceeds most state schools. This was a big surprise, and disappointment.
@4Rosebud - I am not sure your analysis accurately reflects the Princeton experience. Yes there are those students who seriously party. There are students who party occasionally. And there are quite a number like my son who don’t party at all. I think this could be true of most colleges.
