I am current a junior and I have been taking many college courses, I will have about 60 credits by May 2012. I am wondering since I have so many credits, will Michigan treat me as a transfer student or a freshman?

Im not sure of the answer to your question, but out of curiosity, why are you taking so many college classes while you’re in HS?

Will I receive college credit for a course I took through dual enrollment?
If you have elected to earn college credit (instead of high school credit) for a dual enrollment course, you may be eligible to receive transfer credit.

Here are some of the guidelines for receiving transfer credit:

•The course must have been taken at an accredited college or university.
•The course must have been taught by a college instructor, and had college-level students enrolled.
•The course must not be used to meet the minimum high school academic requirements the University of Michigan sets for entering freshmen.
•The course must satisfy a degree requirement or elective of your field of study.

If these requirements are not met, the student may not be awarded transfer credits. All students have the option of earning credit through an Advanced Placement test in a subject area. Generally, earning a score of 4 or 5 on the AP test will result in the awarding of credit.

I took some college math courses my senior year and didn’t get credit, they are pretty strict.

Also, make sure they are even on the course equivalencies list first

I finished most of the required courses. There are not many high school classes I am interested in.

you got through all the required english, science, math, etc. that fast? damn… did you take classes over summer?

OP was asking if s/he would be transfer student vs a freshman. Most of the responses I see are about transferring credits.

OP - you’ll be considered a freshman applicant, not a transfer student, since you are still in high school.

Subject to course equivalencies, you should get receive transfer credit (others have already posted the requirements).

Yes, I finished most of the requirements. I tested out algebra I, II, trig, pre-cal, health, ACT preparation, and computer requirements. I took as many science and social science classs as I could in the first two years. In marching band and concert band, so PE and fine arts classes are satisfied. The school does not offer many AP courses, I took all of them by the end of this year.
