For the third consecutive year, Duke’s regular decision acceptance rate is in the single digits—coming in at 9.4 percent for the Class of 2019.

At 7 p.m. today, the University will release admissions decisions online to more than 28,000 applicants—and for 2,650 of them, the news will be good. An additional 69 students who were deferred from the early decision process will be accepted.

“There were some very difficult decisions we needed to make,” said Christoph Guttentag, dean of undergraduate admissions, in a Duke News release. “Most of the students applying to Duke are extraordinarily well qualified both in their academic credentials and their extracurricular accomplishments.”

@CaptainAL‌: Thanks.

TopTier while I sit here and sweat out what happens I just wanted to say thank you. Your posts have been so helpful during this whole process. I applied to a number of schools and you have really made an impression on me on this site. I know you do not get paid to help so you are doing it because you are a nice person. You are a great reflection on Duke. So now I will go back to just waiting it out. I know I did my best so either way it goes I could not have done any better. Good luck to everyone.

Godspeed, guys. Either way, if you’re applying to Duke and don’t get in, you’ll probably end up somewhere wonderful.

Good luck to all!
Regardless of acceptance or rejection from Duke, people seem to end up in the right place.

Good luck to each of you and, @Thewait, I DEEPLY appreciate your most gracious post.

So it was a reject for me. Hard to get my head around but the admissions process has been a world wind. I know I could not have tried harder so it doesn’t hurt as much. I made all my other schools so in the end it will be ok. As Steve Jobs said in his commencement address at Stanford. You can not connect the dots looking forward you can only connect them looking back. So it is with this in mind I go into my future. Good luck to the Duke 2019 class.

And the very best luck to you @Thewait‌!!!
