DUKE admits 31% of ED applicants for Class of 2009

Psssh. Maybe you can see it.. in your dreams (i'm so witty, muaha).

It's almost working, but it needs some slight modifications.

AC: Hello sir, I'm here for the 293874th time because I'm a Duke sucker upper.
CG: Why certainly, Dukie.
AC: Two of your recent admits (despite their lovability and contagious personalities), are complete and utter losers. you really F***** up this time, buddy.
CG: Are you doubting our finely tuned admissions process, you old admit? we can't have that! as long as they save the world, i could care less that they're losers! we're all losers, deep inside.
AC: but..i've been following these duke boards like a turgid leech!
CG: don't you have better things to do with your time? writing children's novels, perhaps? (revert to previous thread) i think this conversation is over.

(AC slumps out the door as he realizes the utter coolness of his soon-to-be fellow dukies.)

fin #2.

I can almost see that happening. But more likely:

Me: Yo homie, sup.
CG: Nuttin, sup wit you dawg?
Me: Wellll, I got some female gettin' all up in my grill. I feel the need to bust a cap in her--
CG: Yeah brothah I hear yah. Wut she doin' to yah?
Me: She's not good enough for us, ya know what I mean? She's not one of us. She won't fit. She's a LOSERRRR.
CG: Worrrd. We gets a couple ah dose every year. We fix dis one up real good. Can ya help a brothah out? How will we find dem b--
Me: Well, old chap, I've been perusing some world wide web site message boards and I came across all the information we need!
CG: You realize that you're a turgid leech for doing this....
Me: Well, I have nothing better to do with my time.
CG: Well, that girl and her friend are gone, they'll never set foot on our pristine campus again. But wait... is this your... 293874th time coming to me... I think after the 293873rd time you're officially a Duke sucker upper...
Me: NOOOOOOO!!!!! I was hoping you weren't keeping track! Please don't... no... anything but that....
CG: Sorry, but I have to...

Sorry that one got kind of messed up. The point is... we're both losers in this situation! But Duke is always a winner... awww how sweet

haha i love it. i want to go to duke! anyone else have any alumni interviews, im nervous

go to duke, then!

we're all so cool (or so we say).

ha.

megan, yr NUTS
which is why i love youuu

Duke takes a lot of rich people who can be potential donors.

every top school does

"Duke takes a lot of rich people who can be potential donors."

This way we can give a lot more poor people financial aid and systematically destroy the middle class in the process, so we can all go back to the Dark Ages. Whoops didn't mean to say that last part...

haha i am middle class and was accepted ED, i got like 16k in aid, really deserve more however.

I am also middle class and was accepted ED. I loved knowing by December. The other fun part came in April when I found out about the full tuition academic ride I'd received :) There's NOTHING like a Duke experience--NOTHING!

thats awesome! im so excited about going to duke! when i visited last summer i was hooked!!

I'm middle class and got in ED, but i got nothing in terms of financial aid. Basically, the only thing they will so generously give me is a loan.

haha, so generous of them :)

very generous indeed. Im yet another middle classer, who was accepted ed. I got about $10K in aid. Only $33,000 to go...oh well.

How do they know upper class applicants from middle class ones, other than if they don't apply for financial aid?

usually from the high school

Yeah that would make sense. I didn'y apply for financial aid and some parts of my school district are very wealthy, so maybe....

Took me forever to reply didn't it? There is that little difficulty with having to say "yes" or "no" with ED BEFORE you know about scholarships/aid. Basically, my parents told me not to worry about it (I thought they were INSANE and was not going to ask them to foot the 100K + bill if I didn't get aid). But, basically, they wanted me to say "yes" if i felt like that's where I really wanted to and should go and (reluctantly) that's what I did. I figured that they couldn't MAKE me go if I couldn't afford it. LOL! So, the threat of having to tell them before I knew about money wasn't really that big of a deal. I sent in my $500, prayed like crazy and filled out every (external) scholarship I could get my hands on. Turns out I ended up getting a university merit scholarship (they consider you for every scholarship they offer when you apply).

im am in a family of 6 and consider myself upper middle class...i really REALLY need aid as in high income, NO SAVINGS...my parents income is rpetty high...u guysa re calling ursleves middle class and recieved aid what is ur parents income?
