I just heard this from the head of guidance. Out of 28,000 applicants Duke filled a total of 1,100 spots for RD. That's pretty incredible and unfortunate. I can only imagine that next year the application rate will grow.

They had only 1,100 SPOTS for RD, but they accepted more because the yield rate is not 100%. I think Duke’s RD acceptance rate came in at around 10-15%.

duke’s RD acceptance rate was, i believe, a little over 10%. the overall acceptance rate between RD and ED was 12.8%, according to our newspaper.

I thought it seemed extremely low. I’m a junior in a highschool where 20% of our kids apply to Duke. It is very possible that they are just making it up so people feel better.

Well that eases my mind a bit for next year. (I’ll be one of the 20%)

Seems to increase the odds - BUT after speaking with someone in admissions, I was gently reminded that the athletic earlies and legacies take up a large percentage of those early acceptances. It would be interesting to see what the rate of “normal”, unhooked applicants was for ED.

If duke is your first choice, definatly apply ed. I did and got deferred, but finding out your one of the few deferries accepted in the rd pool is an amazing feeling :)
