Duke did not receive my ACT scores?

Hi guys, so I applied ED yesterday and Duke sent me an e-mail with my username and password to check my application status and what not. However, it said it did not have my testing scores...I sent my ACT in mid September so they should have it by now. Do you think they just haven't linked it up yet since I applied yesterday and that will clear itself up? I double checked the ACT website and it said I sent it. I believe a school I sent an application to EA received it--though I'm not quite sure as their page is incredibly slow, but it wasn't on my to-do list on their website.

Any thoughts?? Thank you!

Call them and ask.

I don’t think you’re supposed to apply ED to Duke and EA to another private institution due to Duke’s restrictive policy. If Duke (or the EA) finds out, you may be denied admission to both schools.

No, you can apply ED and EA to places unless the EA is restrictive or single choice. If I got in Duke ED I would have to withdraw my applications to those places. I couldn’t apply somewhere else ED because ED is binding and thus I couldn’t be committed to two schools, but EA is the same as regular decision except it takes place earlier meaning I can choose of where I am accepted to. Thanks for the heart attack though

So if one apply ED at Harvard but EA at Duke then its OK for both schools and not breaking any ethics law…

Dadfor2014, that combination would not be possible: Harvard is single choice, and Duke is ED.

^^^

Thanks… Thats why My S has to go RD at Duke and ED at Harvard. Long shot but worth a try… Duke is his second choice… Harvard FA is much better then Duke on the NPC…
But he loves both of them…

Dadfor2014, Harvard’s early plan is not ED, it is Single Choice Early Action. That means that Harvard’s admissions decision is not binding. Your son can also apply RD to Duke and, if admitted to both, make a decision in April. Remember that Harvard does not offer merit aid and Duke does.

@siliconvalleymom,

So one can apply to multiple schools if they all are EA since they wont be binding till April.

Harvard is Single choice meaning you cannot apply anywhere early action besides Harvard and nowhere else early decision. (Though I think you may be able to apply to public schools EA? Not sure, check on that.) Some schools are restrictive EA meaning you cannot apply ED anywhere and sometimes not to any private universities EA. But as long as your EA schools don’t have any restrictions (as mine do not) you can apply ED somewhere

Your son could apply ED 2 to Duke if they have ED2

Duke does NOT have ED2.

Please don’t post uninformed, unhelpful comments. This only creates confusion. If you want to be helpful, go to Duke’s admissions site, find the answer and post a link.

I am very sorry for not posting a 100% informed response. I did not mean for this to cause any confusion.
