hey does anyone know around the time when duke announces when they are releasing decisions?
i believe it’s 7PM eastern
Thanks! Do you know how many days prior to the decision date they annouce the date?
They usually send out the email within the week of the decision date. Hopefully it will come this week or next week.
i’m not sure but i’ve seen a bunch of anecdotal evidence that it comes 3 days before decisions are released
my prediction is the 10th, but since the deadline was a little later it could be the 17th that decisions come out
I feel like they may come out on the 17th if not later because interview evaluations are due tomorrow which likely means that there are still candidates who haven’t been looked at yet. I mean, I don’t know Duke’s admissions process, if they create financial aid packets as they go along, or even how long it takes to create one but it looks like we might be waiting for a little while longer than we’d hoped.
do you guys think having a low class rank and high gpa would be a severe disadvantage? my gpa is 4.5 w and 3.98 uw, but my school is very large and competitive that my class rank is 88/850. I also took 11 ap courses, so it’s a lot of rigor.
@janelb I don’t think your rank matters at all, at least that’s what Duke wants us to think. Class rank is the one thing they didn’t answer for in the Common Data Set, they literally skip the question asking how important it is. They do say that 95% of their incoming freshman are in the top 10% of their class, I feel like everyone who reaches that threshold should be good. They said rigor and GPA are very important though so you have that.
@jazama Yeah I’m hoping it works out. The rest of my app looks good, but I’m just really scared for the class rank part.
My documents from IDOC finally updated on my Duke portal, but it says that they didn’t take my dependent verification form, just my student non-filer form. I made a slight mistake on my dependent verification form, and I was going to email them about it. Now that I can see that they didn’t take the form I messed up on, is it safe to just leave it be? Or should I still email them?
i would maybe still email it’s better to be safe than sorry!
Any consensus on when Duke will be releasing their ED decisions? I’ve heard multiple dates, and I’m not sure which is correct. Thanks!
There’s not an official date yet from what I know, everyone is just guessing
it is my understanding that the admissions office will notify us week before decisions are released.
hey, I’m an international student!
hey! did Duke ask you to fill their IDOC? because i didnt get a request for idoc and i see that most people have their IDOC. do you think its different for international students?(btw i sent the financial docs through the strongbox)
I didn’t get a request to send in anything through the IDOC. However, they contacted me to submit some extra documents through the strongbox as well, so I’m guessing the process may be different for international applicants.
did y’all see that duke ED apps went up to over 5,000 this year? more than a 20% increase from last year. because of gap year students the ED acceptance rate is expected to drop 3-4% to around 16-17% this year. also 60% of applicants submitted test scores (this is all from IvyCoach). feels great, i’m so excited to get rejected in a week or two
really when my school had a meeting w a duke admissions counselor they said there weren’t enough gap year students to make a substantial impact . big increase tho wow
