The money is going towards the new $50 million Arts Center, new research grants, financial aid, new dorms, Duke Engage scholarships, new techy library, etc. This is really exciting stuff for Duke.
Thoughts?

Amazing. I was there to witness the grand celebration on campus in April. Duke is moving forward at a rapid pace. Can’t wait for the next decade
Duke also recently announced it will pay its employees and contractors $15/hour by 2019. I think this is a really symbolic move that shows Duke’s commitment to social equity. I’m also curious what the economic effects will be, as in effect this new policy could act as a Keynesian multiplier for the rest of the Durham community. Any econ majors wanna tackle this? Hehe

^^The effect will be fewer jobs for students and other entry level wage earners.
