^it’s not a hard and fast rule. i did a minor and 2 certificates and no one has said anything. maybe 3 minors is off limits though.

No I definitely know or have known a select few who went above that including a couple of triple majors with a minor or two tacked on.

Are econ majors at Duke generally considered extraordinarily intense?

to add to mermaid123456,
Is it common for students to double-major in economics and another major (i’m thinking polisci or pubpol)?
Can you take classes with credit for 2 majors?

Econ is not a joke, but is not one of the more intense majors.

Yes, you can pretty much double major within Trinity easily, and in Pratt without much difficulty. I’m not positive on how double counting works (in terms of Trinity general ED requirements), but my math classes for engineering will be double counted for Statistics.

Has any1 done the Duke in NYC fiance program? cud u give a review of the experience?
i’m really interested in it because it would allow me (a hopeful pps and econ double-major) some time in the city which dominates finance while still being able to study at Duke.

if i want to go to Trinity would i still be able to get a certificate in Architectural Engineering through Pratt or would i have to be in Pratt to do that?

I think I answered that in the other thread when I said if you plan to have anything at all to do with pratt your primary affiliation as a student must be with pratt. It’s an institutional policy.

I’m trying to book tickets to go home for fall break…how long should I leave myself to get to the airport?

Also, my english teacher allows us to have two unexcused abscences. Do teachers generally get really mad if you use of one those to miss class to go home a little earlier?

1) Give yourself 30 minutes from the time you get in a taxi to the time your check in at the airport. Give yourself at least 1hr to check in and get through security, more if you are traveling during peak times. Overall, I’d recommend a minimum of 2hrs from the end of class to flight time, more if you need time to get from class to dorm via bus.

2) No, teachers generally won’t get mad. However, it would be courteous to inform them in advance that you’ll be missing class. You’ll likely end up having to use an unexcused absence in either case, but most professors would appreciate knowing ahead of time that you intend to use one. It also gives them (and you) time to make arrangements for collecting work, turning in assignments, making up notes, etc and usually professors are more favorably disposed to letting you make up stuff if you give them adequate warning.

this may have already been asked but how is the psychology department? Is it a popular major?
How would you say the dress is (beachy, preppy, dressy, etc)?

Does anyone know how many black students apply early decision each year?

How many internationals?

How many people from Canada?

Hi im thinking about going to duke but im not sure.I’ve read threw this whole forum(i have a really bad headache;) and have had some question ansowered but not all.
1-is dukes proffessors actually get to know you or is the school to big for you to be on a close basis?
2-i havent heard anything about the anthropological department, is it good?Does it have intresting courses or should i look elswhere?
3-Does duke accept running start credits?

I’m taking a course with a truly awful philosophy professor, and I fear I may get a C (if I’m lucky) in it. Would it be a bad idea to try to get the course graded as pass/fail to save my GPA? I’m scared to even talk to him about it…

Let me guess – Alex Rosenberg?

no, someone else…

If accepted into Trinity, can you later transfer into Pratt if interested in Engineering? I want to keep my possibilities open.

It is MUCH easier to transfer from Pratt to Trinity.

^ That it is.

BUT, you can transfer to Pratt from Trinity. I know you have to take an “Intro to Engineering” (not sure if thats at all what it is called) course Freshman year while in Trinity at the very least. Maybe someone that goes to Duke can say what else you have to do, as Im sure there is more. Its harder, though.

To go Trinity > Pratt, you have to take Egr 53 freshman year, a course which all Pratt students are required to take. Then you apply for a transfer and they’ll check your math/science abilities before letting you in. If you really want to keep your options open, apply Pratt since there are no restrictions on Pratt students taking classes in and getting a second major in Trinity. If you find you don’t like engineering, then you can switch into Trinity, no questions asked.
