Duke Superscore

On Duke's website, it said they will consider the highest composite score and highest scores on each section. I am planning to send my September ACT score, which was a 33 with a 30 in Science. I re-took it in October and although composite score dropped to a 31, I raised my score to a 34 superscore with a 33 in Science. The reason why my score dropped is because I completely messed up on time in October with Reading and ended up with a 24 on that section. Do you think it will look bad if they see the 24 on the October ACT? Thanks in advance.

Duke REQUIRES that you provide ALL results (including writing) for EVERY ACT examination you’ve taken during high school (the foregoing policy statement applies). This is mandatory and (as you’re probably aware) you cannot “pick and choose.” Therefore, why worry about how “it will look?” You really have NO alternatives, and Duke will evaluate your aggregate ACT performance precisely as they do every other applicant’s.

@TopTier Isn’t there Score Choice?

Read the policy statement provided in post #2. Does it allow you to use Score Choice?

@TopTier‌ Thank you. I just found this out. I thought Duke has always allowed Score Choice but is this the first year they are doing this?

I could EASILY be mistaken, but I do not recall Duke ever permitting Score Choice. However, it’s a moot point for Class of '19 applicants.
