This is what I was thinking and I really hope its true! Although I am worried with so many people hearing later dates than that in April…
Mid April??? That’s crazy!
Totally agree. I didn’t believe when they say that
There is no way that Duke will delay to mid-April which is a week later than the “delayed” Ivy League regular decision notification. Again, I can’t imagine that they would delay beyond the official notice of April 1st given in the application confirmation email unless they recontacted all via email like the Ivy League schools did. If so, it would be not only disappointing but a mis-step by Duke, given lateness and lack of communication.
that is ridiculously late if that is true
I’d be shocked if it goes beyond Ivy Day.
it would be good if some people here got in touch with Duke asking about the date, and after getting the answer, let them know here, to see if there is coherence and the same answer given to everyone. I say that because on my portal there was also late march and April 1, but today I didn’t understand when Duke answered my email saying it was mid march. I think everything is very strange
I had called last week and they indicated that it would be last week in Mar (?).
Also, didn’t get an interview - should I be worried?
I’m confused. In your post above you noted the email said “mid-April”, but then in this last post you said the email said “mid-March”. Please clarify what the Duke email in response to your question said. Thanks!
I accidentally wrote mid march. The email:
By mid April.

No disrespect to anybody or any school here, but this all seems like a bit of a cat and mouse game that’s being played with applicants. It cannot be that hard to anticipate the application load, the time it will take to process is and then commit to a definitive decision release date. Like we have not all been through enough over the past 12+ months. Planned college visits never materialized, despite the best intentions to go and visit schools. Now, everybody is waiting on tenterhooks for decisions and will then frantically have to scramble to make decisions. It’s truly disappointing that not more consideration is given to the immense pressure and stress that high school seniors have faced this year.
Their announcement day is also after many Spring Break weeks have passed, so it just makes it even harder to schedule a visit in after this time period - if at all.
Thank you for saying what everyone’s thinking/feeling.
I think it has been no party for admission offices this year, either. I know that Duke in particular was blindsided by the number of ED applications - they had anticipated a sharp decrease in applicants, which made them comfortable extending their deadline by two weeks, a decision that left them unable to handle what turned out to be a huge increase in ED applicants. Everybody is flying a bit blind this year on both sides of the admissions game. I’m sure they are scrambling and don’t want to commit to a target they might not meet, especially after the mishaps with ED.
Does anyone know if duke sends an instructional email before the result comes out?
Spoke to the Duke AO earlier today and they said: Duke will send an email on Wed, 3/31, letting the students know when the decisions will be released (likely early April). If I am a guessing person, I’d think Duke will release with the rest of the Ivies on Tue, 4/6.
Also, just so you know, last week, they had said that it will be last week in Mar (?). Perhaps the best advice then is to remain calm and wait patiently to get the “official” email…
I couldn’t agree more. As a parent, it seems unfairly cruel to students at this end of the spectrum whose varsity sport per se are their academics. While we all hope they read all of the applications, and really process each one, I think it’s a fair assumption to say that there are likely some “gates” that must be met in order to get to that next step. Even if not, you know the numbers and what you are looking for. I am thinking with so many casting a much wider net, (evidenced by application numbers up across the board), schools will waitlist more students. That way they can yield protect by knowing who was just casting a wide net to see where they got in and then choose their number 1 from that group and who really has a burning passion to attend that particular school. Again just speculating. But it makes sense to me that a school might do that. Crossing my fingers for all still waiting for their number 1s and 2s and sending virtual mom hugs.
Has anyone received any communication from Duke? My daughter only ever received the “we got your application and here is the link to your portal” All/most other schools have emailed info or at least something … to keep bait on the hook.
Nothing. And now apps are out by Mid April, and I only found out from here? This is some March Madness.
