I got into Duke and waitlisted at Cornell CAS. i think i want to major in something like econ, or public policy at duke, and i am interested in Duke's markets and management certificate. is there any reason why i should stay on Cornell's waitlist or is Duke better in every way?

What's the advantage of coming off a wait list? If it is non-binding, might as well keep all opportunities open as you are making your decisions...

wow...

I'm just shocked....

Duke all the way.

i dont really want to stay on the waitlist if i know i wont go b/c i might be taking some kids spot who is dying to go to cornell.

Whoah - that's a really selfless way to look at it.

They're certainly both top-notch schools. If you're more comfortable at Duke, then by all means I think it's wise and generous to pull off the waitlist. I have a little brother who was choosing between Cornell and Duke. I never really talked with him about it, but he chose Duke with minimal difficulty in the decisionmaking process.

If you love Cornell, then by all means I'm not going to tell you that Duke is "better in every way". But I do think that you can get an at-least-comparable education here, and that it's a great place to spend four years.

i have no great love for cornell, and the more i read about duke the more i love it. i was wondering if there was any great reason to choose cornell over duke, although i really doubt there is.

I am in the same situation, and I don't know whether or not to take myself off the waitlist.

Right now I have to choose between Duke and Cornell. I'm interested in Engineering, so I'm torn between the reputation of Duke as a whole and the fact that Cornell is ranked higher for Engineering and the Sciences. Any advice?
