Duke vs. U of MN Honors

I'd appreciate any help with this:

I was accepted to the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Honors Program and received a scholarship package that amounts to nearly a full ride. The Honors college is a small group within the expansive university, and seems to be fairly selective.

However, I learned a couple days ago that I was accepted to Duke. I'm quite excited, but I'm fairly certain that I would receive little financial aid.

So:
Should I accept debt along with prestige? Or should I give up Duke to graduate debt-free?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Minnesota is a great university. A full ride (or almost full ride) is nothing to sneeze at. If you do well there you can get into any school to pursue an advanced degree. I would take the MN offer.

wow, i’d much rather go to duke, but a $200k difference over four years is not worth it i think.

Go with MN. Duke is not worth $200k of debt. at all.

I am in nearly the same position as you. Just replace Duke with Northwestern, Rice, or Princeton.

sigh

I really like MN, but not as much as the other 3. Yay for parents who worked their way up the income ladder from the bottom!

Look at the two financial aid offers before deciding. Don’t guess on something this important.

Where do you live?
