finally...i got the e-mail...i was getting a little worried that the e-mail might just indicate something. even if it doesnt indicate something...i'd rather get it than not.

btw..sybbie you're really sweet...thanks for everything...you are making this whole process run so much more smoothly! thanks...we all love you!

And quick question to any1 who has noticed this, why is Dartmouth releasing decisions at 3PM on March 31st, when all the Ivies are releasing at 5PM? How is Dartmouth 'allowed' to release earlier than the other Ivies?

thats not bending the rules, per se.. its like standard procedure for Dartmouth, or so it seems.... and I don't think they 've sent out any more likely letters than they have in years' past.. although I can't be quite sure of that

The bigger picture is that the Ivies as a whole have decided to release admissions decisions electronically on March 31. The time of the release is the choice of each college. who knows, maybe they chose 5 p.m. because theoretically it would be the end of business that day and they won't have to worry about parents, students flooding the phone lines.

Dear Crazykid--just tell the potential interviewer you can't make it Thursday night, could you please do it the next day. That way, if you don't get in, you don't have to go to the interview. (Hey, there should be SOME consolation if the news is bad.)

You really have to do something AWFUL or FABULOUS on an interview for it to matter. A family friend is an alumni interviewer for Dartmouth. He sent in a report on one girl with near-perfect scores and marks, who he HATED. He said, "By no means should you admit this little snob. She doesn't know anything about the school, she doesn't even know where New Hampshire is, and she admitted that the only reason she applied was because she wants to go to an Ivy -- ANY Ivy." A month later the little snob got a likely letter.
