Are you willing to say which schools? Richmond is ranked 22 on the USNWR LAC list. I don’t know many LACs around that rank that give merit. D21 has big merit at Loyola Marymount, Furman, and Denver and a decent chunk at Santa Clara but I don’t think those schools would move the needle on merit at Richmond.
We just visited and we also met with a student we know at UR. Her impression is that, no, Greek life is not dominant. Many of the women on her floor this year decided not to rush. Same goes for the men. The schools seems to have SO many ways to be involved.
Sure - she has a name scholarship at Tulane and merit aid from UVM (enough to make it financially feasible). Still waiting on a few more schools, but it is unlikely that any school that we have not yet heard from will match the Tulane offer.
My D was deferred EA and sent. LOCI to her AO a week or so after decisions came out. She never received a response or acknowledgement back from him. Anyone else send a LOCI and hear something?
D got 44K merit-base from Richmond (affordable), and 69K (merit+need) from Tulane (much better than affordable). However, I do not think they are comparable colleges.
Very possibly my D will meet your D @Nagpie415 in Tulane.
Your D got $44k in merit from Richmond? I don’t think they have merit that big. Can you clarify?
Presidential scholar + University Grant = 42.5K, then Fed work study 1.5K. I am not 100% sure if University Grant is merit or need. Maybe merit+need total is 44K.
And my daughter too !
Presidential is 1/3 tuition so maybe around $18,000 and the rest is need based.
My S sent LOCI to Local AO and got a very short “thank you” reply. We are in MA.
I was pretty happy when I saw the 44K/y as it makes Richmond possible. Also there is one more scholarship up-to 15.5k/4y inviting my D to apply, with a deadline of 04/19. We will know if she is going to apply or not by 4/10.
What scholarship is that?
My D received an email inviting her to apply. However, from this website above, it looks like open to everyone.
Has anyone received an acceptance letter in the mail yet who was accepted Early action?
not me!
No, quite a few “postcard” foldables, but no official acceptance letter.
This situation reminds me “Please consider the environment before printing this email”
I’m a sucker for mailers! It was fun to pass around the dinner table. I told my daughter they are only admitting students who can refold it properly!
Richmond just sent me an email with a scholarship through the music department, but I’ll likely still need financial aid to attend. My EFC is way higher than what we can afford and I didn’t receive any need-based aid. Do you guys think I should try to appeal? I have a large merit scholarship from Fordham that makes the cost about half of Richmond’s. The financial aid guide says Richmond doesn’t accept appeals but I don’t know if it’s worth an attempt since it really is my dream school. I honestly don’t know what else I can do.
