Alright, so, I am very aware of the difference between applying EA and ED. However, as a rising senior, I realized I didn't know one specific thing about the process:

If I decided to apply ED to Columbia, could I then still apply EA to other schools? I thought only SCEA could be restrictive, however Georgetown, which is EA not SCEA, does not allow students to apply ED anywhere if they apply EA to Gtown.

Hope this made sense...

Thanks!

Im somewhat confuse between EA and ED, difference of when each is binding/ non-binding. Though I do know many universities differ with EA and ED, different types.

you can do EA and ED, but you cannot do SCEA and ED

If you do EA and ED, if you get into both, you MUST go to the ED even if the EA is a better school.

^ unless your financial situation has become totally hopeless, in which case you can PROBABLY negotiate release from the ED commitment.

In many cases you won’t find out your FA package until well after you’ve been admitted. Meanwhile your ED agreement states you will withdraw applications from other schools once you’ve been admitted ED. That means your EA admittances will be gone.
