@Soccergirl2232 yes, the withdraw application button is still there for me, not sure if it’s live or not because i’m afraid to click on it. also, i have nowhere on my application that mentions mid year grades/report - neither in the required section or the received documents section. everything is on one page and there are no tabs. why do you ask about the “withdraw application” button?
I’m sure we all have the withdraw application button; as long as decisions aren’t released, you can withdraw at any time.
My email says it will tell me by January 15, but the portal says Feb 1. Anyone know what day it is?
My son also received an email telling him he would receive a decision by January 15 but it says Feb 1 on their website.
When did you receive the email?
There appears to be that discrepancy between the website and the email. Northeastern was closed two days last week due to the storm so whatever timeframe they had may be delayed. So much has changed in the past couple of years that I will not hazard a guess as to when EA decisions will be released.
But a few things have stayed the same. Decisions start to be released between 3 and 4 PM Eastern time. They start in Massachusetts and fan out south then west. West coast applicants may not receive decisions until 7 PM Eastern time. An email is sent out saying your decision is available online. The website will include any merit aid that you are offered and any need based aid, if all paperwork has been submitted on time.
If offered NUIn that is a final decision and cannot be changed to Fall Boston admission.
@dschwa6304 & @collegemom38 when did you get the emails? Is there a clue if you got the email vs not? My S didn’t get it as of this moment.
@genuine77 i believe it was the application confirmation email that included information to set up the portal.
When you got access to your applicant portal. They bolded a line in the email saying admission decisions will be released by Jan 15.
Got it, thanks for the clarification @TomSrOfBoston and @confused6789
The waiting is killing me. Northeastern was the first college i visited sense migrating in 2011, and sense then it has been the standard college for me. I hope all our years of hard work gets us accepted. :(( :-S
weird because in my email about receiving my application and starting my portal they bolded “You have applied Early Action, and you will receive your admission decision by February 1.”
Perhaps they fixed the email by the time you had applied @Soccergirl2232
My email also says that I’ll get mine by February 1st. They must’ve updated the later applicant’s emails
My son’s email says decisions will be available by February 1. He applied EA on November 1st.
I applied October 15th and my email said January 15th. I think they realized they’d messed up the date and changed it for all the later confirmations.
My D applied Oct 30th and her email acknowledgement says decisions released by Feb 1st. Likely they realized they needed more time with the ED II round now added in Jan. NU is her reach college so will be amazing to get an acceptance - we’ll see.
I find it sort of odd that they offer NU In as an admission decision for EA/ED, considering that there are some students who would have better chances of being admitted for the fall in Boston if they were deferred from an early application to RD. Wouldn’t it make more sense to just defer the early applicants who weren’t admitted and give them a second chance at their first choice location for the fall rather than put them in NUIn?
They didn’t always admit NUin in the early round (but then again NUin isn’t that old, neither is ED and ED2 is brand new). I think it is better for the student to get an NUin admit in the early decision round and know exactly where they stand.
From the school’s point of view,I can understand offering ED kids NUin - the student applied ED because it is their first choice and if they are that crazy about NEU, they should be more likely to accept NUin, knowing that is their only way to attend.
As a student, I would rather know the only admit I am going to get is NUin, then to keep up hopes by being deferred during the ED round only to get an NUin offer during RD decision time.
Even though they don’t say it, I feel they have very carefully thought out criteria when they offer NUin and that criteria would not change during the regular round. Also, keep in mind the school has more than enough students to choose from (will probably get a record number of applications again this year and was over enrolled this past fall).
when do people think decisions will come out?
