EA Decisions will be sent out tomorro

Wow CTLor...you're GPA was much better than mine. What kind of classes did you take?

Didn't take toughest classes. Wanted to, but counselor said "no." Didn't know (but should have) I cd override that. Cuz of A's in choir, my 'core' GPA is lower. Only Honors in 11th were English Lit & Concert Choir; in 12th, 3 APs & Honors Concert Choir. I'm tracking right now and hopeful I'll get into Bard during RD. Congrats to you and all who got in. It's a fabulous school!

Wow. You should have taken the honors classes...your ACT shows your bright.

i got in w/ a 3.85, 7 aps (including this years), 5 years of japanese, 4 years of french, and being coeditor of the school paper, great recs/essays

"When do we have to commit by?”

Didn’t it say in your acceptance letter?

"I need to know the money situation with it and my other schools first...”

If aid is an issue, why did you apply ED to Tufts?

What were you going to do if the aid offer wasn’t sufficient?

No, it doesn't say on the acceptance letter.

You are no longer legal bound to an ED school if their they find they can not meet your need.

“You are no longer legal bound to an ED school if their they find they can not meet your need.”

That’s not exactly true. Most colleges use the FSA formula when computing aid.

Did you read the contact you, your parents and guidance counselor signed?

“Early Decision
Early Decision is designed for students who have thoroughly researched their college options and have decided unequivocally that Tufts is their first choice. This binding program requires all students who are admitted under Early Decision to enroll at Tufts. http://admissions.tufts.edu/?pid=117

If a college offers the amount of aid dictated by the federal government, you’re bound by their ED contract. And Tufts, in fact, does meet full need, as dictated by the federal formula. You don’t get to decide “need.” What will vary from college to college is the loan vs. grant ratio.

You have to notify Bard and submit a $500.00 deposit, if matriculating, by May 1st

Good luck in college!!

If I got the FSA amount, I'd be fine. Less than that would be a problem.

Bard is a small school in a rural area, so my need may not be met.

"Bard is a small school in a rural area

True, but that has nothing to do with the fact Bard doesn't meet full need, in many instances.

Williams, Middlebury, Colby, Amherst, Bowdoin., etc., are also rural and small, but they meet full need

I made that statement based on the logic that it's a small, rather unknown school, and that the roughly 20% of kids from NY may live around that area, and have lower income than I do. This may or may not be true.
