Will Michigan have my counselor send my Q1 grades (all As) for EA? If not, should I ask my counselor to send them? I have an ok chance of getting but would this help?
Michigan doesn’t ask for quarter grades from my knowledge but they will ask for semester grades through the mid of the year. Most seem to be deffered which means you need to continue to do stellar work in your senior year. Some schools do send in these “half” grades.
So… If you think it helps your case then send them to your schools AO representative. This is a light touch. Tell them that your getting ready for college and wanted them to know how you’re doing since Michigan is your top choice. Maybe a one liner on why you want to be there. Educational culture is a good reason. Hint…
This is what I call a letter of intent and not a letter of continued intent(loci) that you do after you get deferred.
Some schools send in all grades automatically BTW.
Good Luck.
Sorry I’m kind of confused, should I ask to send them?
Sure… But read my post again. See what your school advisor suggest and do that.
Ok I will ask, thanks
Michigan does not require first quarter grades. If you grades are equivalent if not better than the GPA you sent them, then it will not hurt you to send them. Otherwise, don’t send them.
My kid’s counselor advised AGAINST sending 1st quarter grades unless a college actually requested them. None of her colleges have (including Michigan). Even though her grades to this point are good and the classes are rigorous. It might be different if the grades are very different from his/her performance in previous years, but not if he/she has been consistent in this range.
IMO, no and no. I wouldn’t communicate with UMich until asked to do so by them or, if you’re deferred, then possibly send them a LOCI with your updated grades.
They have all the info they need to make a decision by Xmas.
Agree with above. They might want semester grades but not quarter grades but continue to do well. Good performance in senior year shows them your ready for the college rigor. Have fun but no slacking off if you want to go to Michigan.
My advice would be to continue to do as well as you possibly can in high school, as it can’t hurt! You never know what Admissions looks at!
