ea or rd?

I kind of want to apply regular decision because I need to get my grades and sats up. does anyone know if they accept a large amount of students during ea, leaving little room for rd applicants?

if your stats are borderline then you might want to apply EA. I applied EA and i got accepted but my friend who had similar stats applied RD didn’t. I think they also tend to give more financial aid to EA applicants than RD. I got more grant $ than people who had a lower EFC but applied RD. I think the problems with the UC and CSU system is dramatically increasing the amount of applicants they are receiving. I also heard that this years freshmen class is larger than they anticipated. Goodluck.

the other side of the coin is maybe you should wait and try to get your grades up for 1st semester, and increase your test scores - if you do, it only increases your chances overall. Or, send in the mid-semester report, if your school does one. If your grades are borderline, they may defer you to RD anyway. Hard to say. Generally, I don’t really think it is easier to get in EA, but maybe it is a tad easier. I have heard many Admission Counselors say that when they read applications early in the process (Dec and early January) they are much “fresher” and spend more time on the applications, versus the deluge of applications that come at the very end. They all say get it in well before the deadline!! Especially for Rolling Decisions. (not sure that SCU has rolling?)
