I’m going to be applying to my top choice school of William and Mary, and I was hoping that adding Eagle Scout to my resume would help my chances of getting in. Unfortunately, because of the way things played out, I won’t get Eagle Scout until January 16th, which is AFTER the January 1st Deadline.
Even though the application would have already been turned in, would it be possible for me to notify the school when I achieve Eagle Scout and have it considered with my application? From what I’ve heard, Eagle Scout and Boys State (which I also attended) have a large positive impact on an application to W&M.

Sure, just email the main admissions email address. Let them know your accomplishment (and any others that have happened since the app went in), and ask if it could please be considered along with the rest of your application. Be sure you provide enough identifying information – your full name, if they give you a login or a portal number or something include that, possibly last 4 digits of social if you don’t have some kind of portal number or something. You want to make it easy for them to match it up with your application. You can also put that you are an Eagle candidate on your app, and let them know the projected date for completion.
You should probably do this for everyplace you apply.

Agreed that putting “Eagle Candidate” on your app can help. Depends on where you are in the process, but if you’ve earned the merit badges, done the required leadership hours, and have a project approved by your council they you’re in pretty good shape to earn the rank.
It doesn’t matter for all schools, but earning Eagle has helped at some of the schools S applied to, with one even pointing it out in his acceptance letter that they felt this was an important criteria for why he was accepted.
You should definitely follow up once you achieve Eagle rank, and you may also find ways to work your journey to Eagle into essays or other parts of your app.
Eagle Scout also provides a great talking point when interviewing.
