@gryffindortheo Do you need to provide FASFA verification? We did at every school she was accepted to. Is that the email you received?
It was at the top of the email, right hand side, under the picture. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but she’s only needed to provide those forms to schools she’s been accepted to.
@gryffindortheo I could be reading tea leaves but I think that’s a very good sign. And her safety schools only asked for the verification forms after they accepted her.
Since those emails just went out, I think the portal will update. If you had a really low EFC or 0 EFC, I think all of those FASFAs were flagged for verification. It’s not a big deal.
I don’t think they portal has been updated. They had a snow day on Friday, that could have set them back a bit. Maybe the portal will update tomorrow or there will be emails tomorrow. But I bet it’s soon?
I think anyone that was selected for verification, or I’m assuming that’s the case, May have gotten the email we got. But not everyone has a FASFA that is selected for verification. If you do, it’s not a big deal. If you don’t great, a few less documents.
And I suppose the email doesn’t have to mean anything. I’m just hopeful it does.
@Grinnellhopeful No FA for us. The merit offer makes Earlham one of his least expensive options. There are a number of reasons, but, probably most important, is the fact that he’s been admitted to some other schools he likes a lot better.
@1518mom I wish you the best wherever your son decides to land! It’s a tough decision for these kids. At times I feel a little lucky that we have pretty substantial financial need (sounds weird, huh?) because we can eliminate schools pretty easily if they don’t have a reputation for meeting a good portion of need. I have been overwhelmed with what some one consider a small list but it feels big to me, much bigger than when we started.
My D gets even more overwhelmed. And the schools on are list are very similar in some respects.
I’m glad to hear your merit made Earlham an affordable choice for you, though.
Hi, I’m an international student and I just wanted to know if the financial aid package comes in via mail? Because there isn’t anything about it besides the scholarship in the update. Thanks.
@simplewoozi I can’t say for certain if international students are handled differently. But when I spoke to the FA office this morning, they said since they have everything they need from me right now, that her financial aid package should be uploaded into her portal by Friday.
Which isn’t extremely quick turnaround in my opinion. And if they’re running a little behind, we should have grace, I’m sure it’s a crazy time trying to make sure they have everything they need from everyone and get the packages out in a timely manner. If you have any questions I would just call and ask. Just because I had one experience, doesn’t mean it would be the same for everyone. Or maybe I misinterpreted information? I’m sure they would be happy to tell you when and how to expect to see the rest of the picture. Although it sounds like they’re really trying hard to get that information in everyone’s hands ASAP.
@Grinnellhopeful , a few days between decisions and FA is not unusual. And because this is not ED, your D will have until April 30 to make a decision. So no need for grace. You have a full 2 months on RD applicants!
