The on-campus interviews start in June to accommodate people who are doing summer college tours, so the answer is yes, you can schedule an on-campus interview before your app is in. Alumni interviews can't be scheduled until you have applied.

Celita--Someone just posted on the Yale board that the Yale website says that admissions officers will begin reviewing applications in mid-October because of the influx of applications they expect. My earlier post that they don't review apps until after the EA deadline apparently doesn't hold true for this year.

i have my yale interview tomorrow morning...
i submitted my common app and supplement online around october 3, but i don't even think that my school has sent all of the other stuff in yet. i was really surprised. and it was REALLY short notice (one day!).

did you also submit your essays on October 3rd??

Celita, you really want to get your contact information to Yale immediately, especially if you want an interview for the SCEA round. No, you don't have to have your essays finished at the time you send in your contact information so that an interview can be scheduled, but interview scheduling is tight, and you have to give the people who oversee assigning interviews enough time to work with. This is consistent with what I heard at the Yale information meeting in my town the week before last.

Hmm, ok, thanks. But what exactly is the "contact information" and how do I send it??

The first page of the Common Application, with the student's personal data (especially, address and phone number) on it. I don't know how to send that ahead electronically online, but that is the information colleges expect if they need to schedule interviews.

yeah that makes sense... but I also don't know how to send just that information without sending the rest... :-/

Maybe I should just print out the first page of the common app and send them that in snail mail or fax?

Yes I did submit my essays on October 3rd also.
