NOPE!!! I was accepted but no official letter? Very odd
It seems that the general admission team is not on top of getting the official mailings to the accepted students. I understand that we know the acceptance from the email and portal, but my son wants the big envelope like all of his friends are getting from other schools. Fingers crossed that everyone gets it in the mail soon. Also, hopefully the Honors College gets the mailings out on time. We are anxiously awaiting that one!
no envelope here either. Must be a SC thing - we waited a month for an envelope from USC, haha. Am I the only obsessed parent scouring the internet for videos of the dorms, campus life, etc? I just finished highlighting the dorms, food spots and library, school, etc on the campus map to help map out the logistics, etc. We plan on visiting again in mid Feb to make the final decision -do you think my s will be at a disadvantage from a dorm selection process by not enrolling and filling out the housing request by 2/1?
@2023collbound was there something that said the housing needed to be filled out by 2/1?
@kwill23 Hi - it didn’t say it had to be filled out by the date, but the housing selection opens on that date, so not sure what % of the population is ready to go on that date vs the % that commit later on and didn’t know if the good dorms are filled right away, etc. This is from the website: Starting February 1, 2019 at 9:00AM and after you have made the payments referenced in step one, you may begin the application by choosing the MyHousing/Dining button within MyCharleston. During the application process you will designate your housing emergency contact, answer profile questions, select a meal plan, designate building preferences, preference a roommate (optional) and sign your housing contract.
We emailed the school today to reschedule a tour that we had planned because we needed to move it by a couple of days and I received the nicest email back from admissions and they forwarded my email to someone at the business school who could take us on a tour as well as someone who manages the shadow program so that hopefully my S can participate in that while we are in SC. Definitely good vibes!!! Oh, and on a separate note, my S just came home from the Dr and he asked what schools he was considering and the Dr’s response was, “Definitely Charleston without a doubt!” Surprised to hear that all the way up in NJ! Just thought I’d share!
@2023collbound I have a very good friend who is an anesthesiologist in California. He was doing a consult with a patient and was surprised to find out that her daughter attends CofC . DS16 was host for a young man from California during Scholarship weekend last year. He chose CofC which says a lot because he’s a CS major. Lots of NJ students at CofC.
Thank you.
My son called admissions yesterday because he really wants the official envelope to show off. While they told me last Wednesday that the packets were mailed that week, they told my son that they won’t be mailing them until this Friday. I’m not sure what the problem is with all of the miscommunication. It’s a little frustrating.
Anyone know what time Honors decisions come out today?
No idea, but we have our fingers crossed for an invitation at our house! My son finally got his regular decision packet in the mail yesterday, so that was nice even though we already knew the outcome of that one.
Not the decision we wanted, but still hopeful. Waitlisted email came today from the honors college.
@Patcocc If he doesn’t make it off the wait list, he can apply after completing 2 semesters and has at least a 3.4 GPA ,but 3.8 is recommended as it is very competitive.
DS19 paid housing and application deposits for CofC last night. He will be completing his housing questionnaire today when it becomes available. We’re done. CofC Class of 2023!
Anyone else not get their official letter yet???
^^Not yet for DS
Not yet for us either.
Nope
Thank you to those that have been posting very helpful information. Our son will be attending, deposits paid, etc. he was waitlisted for the Honors College. Those with prior CofC experience…any insight on what waitlist chances are? Either way, he is thrilled to be attending as CofC was his first choice. Thankfully, he did get some merit as we are OOS.
