Early Action or Regular Decision?

A lot of colleges will see those knock-out SAT scores, and will be very forgiving about the lackluster GPA. Start researching data sets. Some colleges have guaranteed admissions and scholarships for high scorers. Even a few ultra-competitive colleges like Vanderbilt and Washington University are known for being nice to applicants with perfect or near-perfect scores. I’d recommend finding some colleges with non-binding Early Action and rolling admissions, and then apply to others for Regular Decision.

Posted a similar question on another thread. DS applying this year - grades and scores are fine for most of where he’s applying but definitely on the low side for his two dream schools. After reading it sounds like he should wait for RD in the hopes that he continues to show some improvement on grades this fall? I think he might do EA to his two “safeties” so he feels better about (hopefully) having at least on offer in hand.
