What are they, and how do they help/hurt your chances of getting into a college? Also, how does rolling admission work? Thanks in advance!

ED - you basically know what school you want to attend, and you start working over the summer on college apps etc. If you are accepted to that school, you must attend it. Helps your chances because the school sees your dedication

EA - A tad bit later than the EA, you can choose to back out if you're accepted, not too sure on this one

ED- can really boost your chances of being accepted, often colleges accept a higher percentage of the ED applicants. You apply in October and hear back in December. But you MUST be sure you want to go there because if they accept you there is no backing out, you have to attend that school.

EA-is not binding, also requires applications submitted in the fall, and can help your chances significantly, though maybe not as much as ED.

Oh. Rolling. You can apply starting any time and the schools evaluate applications as they receive them and admit or reject students. It can be great, I had a classmate who was accepted in September of senior year on rolling and didn't have to stress for the rest of the year like the rest of us.

Also, for rolling, apply early! If you apply later, most spots will have been taken and your chances of rejection are much greater.
