I applied to Bucknell Early Decision, and am anxiously waiting to hear back. The website says that they will be sending letters the 16th and posting the 17th. Does anyone know if this is true, or if they will be sending them sooner?

My daughter is waiting, too! I don’t know the answer to your question. I just know that the waiting is tough! Hang in there, it’s just a couple more weeks.

will be tough if daughter does not get in

A letter is much more dramatic. Gettysburg sent snail mail letters when my daughter was accepted in 2006…really fun. Mailman was excited, too!
My son is hoping for Bucknell ED acceptance for Engineering. If online, I wonder what time? He’ll probably start checking at 12:00am on the 17th! :)

I am waiting too. I wonder how many applied ED this year?

I applied ED for College of Arts and Sciences! I really can’t take the anticipation any longer, what time are decisions supposed to be released on the 17th? does anyone know?

Most people in past years have received theirs around 5. But the mail should be coming on the 17th as well, so whichever sooner for you, the mail or 5.

5 eastern time?

Does Bucknell usually wait until the 17th or do they send decisions a little earlier?

By the looks of it, usually they send them sooner then the 17th, one year they sent them out the 7th. Plus on the website it does say within a month from the deadline, which in theory should mean before the 15th. I think it is 5 eastern time, I am not certain though.

Our son is a sophomore at Bucknell and the year he was accepted both ED1 and ED2 decisions were posted online sometime in the middle of the night (he checked the portal at 5 am to see he was accepted). If the same holds true this year you might want to check in the early morning hours of 12/17. Good luck to all!!

Thank you NYGmen! I’ve also been seeing that some have received acceptances already in the mail… I sent in my application two days before the deadline; does anyone think that this means my application is at the bottom of the stack to look through?

I am pretty confident that the only acceptances already mailed are for the recruited athletes. The rest of the ED pool will find out next week.

Thank you so much!!

Thank you, NYGmen. The waiting is so rough, as I’m sure it was for your son a couple of years back. It is helpful to hear from someone whose been through the whole process.

Does anyone know whether Bucknell defers to rd if not accepted Ed? Or, is it just an outright rejected. My daughter is trying to prepare herself for whatever news she will get.

We asked this on the tour and I believe for early decision they can reject you outright or defer you to regular decision.

Last year ED applicants were notified the date Bucknell posted on their website. By 5am it was online and letters received the next day. Best of luck to everyone!

They can defer, which is much more common the rejection. That’s mom00! I thought I read 5pm. Very good to know!

So at this point are we assuming that we will not hear until the 17th?
