Early Decision and Early Action

I know that if accepted, you must withdraw all other applications, but if you apply early decision to Barnard can you also submit applications early action?
Thank you

Yes you can.

Yes, but if you are accepted early action at another school and also accepted ED to Barnard, you would have to accept Barnard. So don’t apply ED unless Barnard is truly your first choice.

That’s not completely true. If your early action school was significantly less expensive and you couldn’t afford Barnard when the FA package came, Barnard would let you out of your commitment. The head of admissions told me as much and signed a letter with this information for mollify our high school guidance counselor.

However, Calmon’s advice is quite true. Don’t not apply ED unless Barnard is head and shoulders your first choice, and one you would be willing to spend more money on. As she has pointed out numerous times, ED does not allow a candidate to compare FA packages.

Well… if you need financial aid, I really don’t think you should be applying ED in any case… but you could very well be in the position of being admitted to an EA school but not having a financial aid package from them – since EA is not binding, not all EA schools will provide early financial aid information.

FA isn’t an issue and Barnard is my absolute first choice. Thank you for your responses, they were all very helpful for me.

I’m applying to UofChicago and Barnard so yes you absolutely can.

So did I…applied to Uchicago and Barnard, and now my parents are telling me that they are not going to pay 50k a year because we can’t afford it now. =[
