Early Decision I Class of 2016!

What did you mean by 8.5/10?

It was a figure of speech, apptleton1, meaning that if you don’t achieve 100% of what you aim for, you’re likely to get 85%. As an illustration, if you (heaven forbid!) don’t get into Midd ED/RD, you might get into, say, Tufts. That may be less than ideal outcome (for you), but not by much.

Got it?

Yes, are you a student or midd parent?

you flatter me, appleton1. Just a dad, S ED 2015, got same message as above.

oh well thank you for the advice!

As has been reported a number of times on this board, Middlebury has been need-aware for international students since 1997 or so. It does still meet full need for all students it accepts. In 2009, Middlebury did not change its financial aid policy from need-blind to need aware, but it did cut the amount of aid available for first year internationals. However, it has been need aware for internationals for a long time.

Yeah i got a 2010. Only because I got a 600 on reading. I suck at vocab

less than 2 days can’t breathe

This is either going to be a Christmas break filled with joy or one filled with other applications.

Let’s all hope it’s the first one!

Good luck to everyone!! The mail will be out tomorrow…

Thanks badaro :)

CC hasn’t been working for me all day. I just tried again on this laptop and it seems to be functioning intermittently. Weird…I’m assuming you guys didn’t have this problem? Bright side, the Midd app portal HAS been up and running!

Wow, the mail is out tomorrow, you are right…that’s insane! I wish I could just go to the Middlebury town post office and request my mail (provided I’m either deferred or accepted)!

less than 1.5 days now guys…we got this! GOOD LUCK!!! Let’s hope we can all sit through school tomorrow without pulling out our hair in agony! With my class schedule that might be quite difficult…

Nescac admissions not looking too good. 2 friends of mine both got rejected from williams and bowdoin with 2300’s and stellar applications. this makes me nervous.

finger crossed!!

English teacher talked about a poem today. Here are some lines…

Let us then be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

Go future Middkids!!! ;)

ok guys 26 hours exactly from now.Good luck hope to see you all in Middlebury this fall.May God be with you all.cheers

My friend with physics olympiad medal has applied to Middlerbury ED I…hope he gets in…

PantherPride, we’ve gotten into this a few other times on other boards. I’m still not sure where you get this idea. It’s simply inaccurate. Very recently, Middlebury was among the few (6 or so) schools in the country that was need blind for internationals as well as domestic students. They changed that policy only in the past few years. You continue to claim that the policy was adopted nearly 15 years ago, but that’s simply not the case.

You are strong poster on here and I usually find myself agreeing with you, but you don’t have your facts straight on this issue - not that it really matters. The result is that, as of today, they’re need aware for internationals.

Since my family doesn’t quite get how selective Middlebury is because they don’t know anything about American colleges, they are so sure that I’m going to get in. No matter how much I tell them how unlikely it is, they keep telling me not to worry --’ and they talk to everyone as if I’m already accepted. It puts so much pressure on me, because I know exactly how unlikely it is and although I’m psychologically prepared to be disappointed, I don’t think they are.

Classmates have started posting ED acceptance statuses on FB…it makes me so incredibly nervous :frowning: I hope I get to post an ACCEPTED status tomorrow too. I had already convinced myself that I probably won’t get in, and that that’s fine in the end because I’m sure I’ll end up somewhere awesome regardless. But all of these people getting into their top colleges are making me so hopeful…I just keep imagining how amazing it would be to log into that decisions page tomorrow and see that I’ve been accepted, and to be able to tell my family and friends and teachers and everyone, and to have a happy, application-free holiday season :frowning: sigh Of course just the fact that we’ve all applied to Midd makes me sure that we’re all good students that will go to very good colleges, even if not Midd. But I, and I think most of you in the same position, still want to get in, so much. Here’s hoping, for all of us.

18 hours. lets gooooo

and if you are seeing a lot of college acceptance statuses on FB, I know how you feel…literally my entire news feed is full of all caps and exclamation points and smiley faces. Not to be hypocritical, because I’ll do that if I get in but still haha

we need to keep this convo going! as a way to distract ourselves…
